If you remember in the starting days of One Piece, there was one character that made an impact in the hearts of every One Piece fan, including myself, and almost every other person, in One Piece, and reality, was swooning over him. That’s none other than “Fire Fist” Ace! Making his first appearance in Alabasta Arc, this fan-favorite has captured our hearts since then!
In this blog post, we will answer the question : Is Luffy stronger than Ace ?
When Luffy first met Ace, the two were at odds, with Ace winning every time. Later growing up, Ace was shown to be a skilled commander under the Whitebeard Pirates, with Luffy catching up to his abilities. But what would happen if Ace were still alive and he saw Luffy’s Gear 5 with his own two eyes?
Being a One Piece fan since 2008, I’ll be your guide for today’s post, and it’ll be a pleasure to discuss this with you all!
Luffy vs Ace
Back when Ace’s origin story was first shown after his untimely demise at the hands of Akainu in Marineford, he was revealed to be the son of the late Pirate King Gol D. Roger and was raised in East Blue under the care of the Naval Admiral Monkey D. Garp, Luffy’s Grandfather!
Talk about a twist of fate. When introduced to Luffy, he along with Sabo would try to beat Luffy up just for a show of dominance, that is until Luffy saved their lives from a pirate who was after them. The three then became oath brothers and would reign hell over Dawn Island, the place where the three are from!
Now, Ace and Luffy did make a bet on who would become the Pirate King first and this would motivate them to get even further stronger with Luffy forming his own Pirate Crew and Ace joining the Whitebeard Pirates (after being defeated by Whitebeard, of course.) and destiny had begun to play it’s part!
But, what if, Ace had survived the whole ordeal at Marineford, continued to live under hiding, and for some miraculous reason, would encounter Luffy again in Wano on seeing his new form, Ace would try to have his turn at Luffy? Well, we’re about to find out!

Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of Strength?
Back when Ace first fought Old Whitebeard, he had burned his hand which is no easy feat to do, given that Whitebeard had MASSIVE strength in his arsenal and he was the owner of the Gura Gura no Mi as well. Not only that, he is also said to put up one hell of a fight with Blackbeard before his eventual capture. Again, not an easy feat.
If Luffy has fought AND defeated the likes of Doflamingo, Enel, Rob Lucci, Big Mom, and Kaido, Ace would definitely be a cakewalk for him.

Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of Speed?
The only proof we have of Ace’s speedwork is the fact that he kept up with Old Whitebeard’s punches and intercepted Akainu’s Magma punch that was aimed at Luffy. Goes to show that it is faster than the speed of light.
Luffy in his Gear 4 Snakeman form would easily blitz Ace in a mile, given that he has blitzed Katakuri in this form as well. Not only that, in Gear 5, he would reign supreme in terms of Speed.

Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of Haki?
One thing about Ace is that he learned willful control over his Conqueror’s Haki at the age of 8, and since then, he has been able to counter and withstand many Haki-related attacks from tougher opponents like Blackbeard and Whitebeard as well as gain mastery over the remaining two variants of Haki.
Luffy, on the other hand, has mastered the Advanced From of all three types of Haki and would easily overpower Ace should the two duke it out.

Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of Power (Destructive Capabilities)?
You do know that both of them can deliver utter destruction, right? And in their own unique way?
In the viewpoint of Ace, he can deliver massive damage to his surrounding enemies with his “Fire First” move that can obliterate almost every single enemy around his radius.
For Luffy, it would be one use of Bajrang Gun and the whole ordeal would be over in a few seconds given that it is capable of destroying an entire Island with this move.

Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of Endurance?
Ace can take blows, that is a given. If he can withstand the sheer amount of impactful punches and destructive force of both the likes of Blackbeard and Akainu along with Whitebeard AND Jinbei, he is a walking tank, let me tell you that. Also, given that he has Logia Regeneration and Intangibility, it would make sense for him to endure and withstand this much of an impact from tougher enemies.
The same can be said for Luffy as well given that he took hits from the likes of Kaido, Big Mom, Katakuri, Doflamingo, and Enel, making him a tougher nut to crack than the rest. Compare the current Luffy with Ace, he would take the round in this one.

Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of IQ?
The one thing that Ace would have an advantage over Luffy would be in terms of IQ. Ace is simply smarter than Luffy and that’s a given. He was able to beat Luffy before he ate his own Devil Fruit and after Luffy ate his and was shown to be a capable leader as well as a sharp trekker, hunter, and expert in recognizing situations.
Luffy is a simpleton compared to Ace and it’s in this aspect that he always gets beaten down.
Ace beats Luffy in terms of IQ.
Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of Battle IQ?
While Ace may be an expert in hand-to-hand combat and maybe a stronger individual in terms of combat, he still lacks the Battle IQ required to overwhelm and outsmart his enemies.
Luffy, on the other hand, thinks outside the box and adapts according to the situation.

Is Luffy stronger than Ace in terms of Devil Fruit power?
Ace has the Mera Mera no Mi, which is one of the strongest fruits in the One Piece universe and is considerably powerful, given that it is a Logia-type fruit.
Luffy, on the other hand, has the Hito Hito no Mi Model: Nika fruit and is a Mythical Zoan fruit, a very rare Devil Fruit which has superiority over all types of Devil Fruits.
Luffy would win over Ace’s Devil Fruit Power.
Conclusion :
Well, should Ace get the chance to fight Luffy, it would be his very first defeat at the hands of his very own oath brother and given how strong he has become, he wouldn’t be too sad about it either!
That is to say, if Ace would’ve survived, we would’ve seen if he would be stronger than Luffy or get beaten by him for the very first time.
Luffy is stronger than Ace with a moderate difference.
