We know that Meliodas is a powerhouse who can level mountains and keep up with the likes of Escanor in battle, he is insanely strong in terms of physical strength and is a force of nature, but that strength does not compare to what Luffy is now capable of.
With his new abilities, there is no estimable limit to Luffy’s brute strength, as we saw that he handled a dragon like a jump rope and grew to a gigantic size at will. Luffy can destroy entire countries, Islands, and continents; the only limit is his own imagination.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Meliodas at Speed?
As powerful as Meliodas is and as over the top as some of his powers are, we have never actually seen him show any feats of speed that compare to what Luffy was capable of even before Gear 5.
And now that Luffy can bend reality, his speed is on another level. As much as I love Meliodas, he can’t match up to Luffy in terms of speed.

This would be a difficult match-up. One is a being that can bend reality and change his own body, and the other is a demon who can heal and feel no pain. Both Luffy and Mel have insane endurance, and both have shown this on numerous occasions. This category would have gone to Mel had Luffy not been in Gear 5.

Now, this is a bad match-up for Luffy. Mel is a demon with celestial power, and even though Luffy has the upper hand because of his abilities, Mel is clearly the one with more power. In accordance with his verse, Mel has an insane amount of power, and Luffy cannot hope to match that.

In terms of abilities, both characters are beasts. Luffy has the three forms of Haki, his reality-altering Devil fruit powers and his insane strength and speed, and Mel has his celestial and demonic powers as well as an unfathomable magical power, enough to scare the like of Merlin. In a one-on-one match, you could claim that it is Mel who has the upper hand, but I would disagree. Gear 5 is Luffy’s wild card, a power like no other. He can literally change the rules of the game.

This debate would actually be pointless. We know that the only limit to Luffy’s destructive power is his own imagination. He could just pick up and turn over a whole Island if he wanted to. As demonically destructive as Meliodas is, he does have a limit.
