I hope you’re having a mighty fine day! In this post, we’ll be looking at the clash of the ages between Gear 5 Luffy from One Piece and Yujiro Hanma from Baki!
Now, I don’t need to explain at all who Luffy is by now, and with his Gear 5 abilities unlocked, he’s one of the strongest and most well-known characters in the One Piece Universe so far.
And Yujiro Hanma, the World’s Strongest in the Baki universe, is someone who everyone is afraid to fight with! And for good reason!
Now, I’m an anime fan since 2008, and I’ve seen both One Piece and Baki where Luffy grew from a simple pirate to the Emperor of the Sea and Yujiro pummeled EVERY single opponent he ever faced! Yet one question still comes to mind, who would win between the two?

Luffy vs Yujiro
Luffy’s tale and rise to stardom is probably a well-known fact by now and I won’t be repeating it again. I’ll say that with his latest form, Gear 5, he is considered strong enough to duke it out with the toughest of the tough.
Yujiro Hanma is a different story. Coming from the notorious Hanma bloodline, he is recognized as The World’s Strongest Creature in the Baki Universe where he has learnt every single martial art known to man and defeated the US Army in the Vietnam War one-handedly at the age of 16! Oh, and he’s the father to the titular protagonist, Baki Hanma.
So, what would a fight between these two behemoths look like?

I can’t compare this battle under normal standards considering that Yujiro is a human with brute strength whereas Luffy is a Pirate and uses Haki/Devil Fruit, which are exact opposites.
So we’ll judge the battle with the criteria written below:

- Power (destructive capabilities)
- Endurance
- IQ
- Battle IQ
- X factors.
Then, let’s check it out.
Can Luffy beat Yujiro in terms of Strength?
Gear 5 is the peak of Luffy’s abilities. Suffice it to say, it’s his “Awakened” Form at best. That and his mastery over the Advanced forms of Observation, Armament and Conqueror’s Haki makes him a deadly force to be reckoned with.
Yujiro may be strong and may be at the apex of the strength of humanity but considering his feats against Luffy it won’t be enough despite the fact that he stopped an Earthquake just with him punching the ground.

Can Luffy beat Yujiro in terms of Speed?
Now, Gear 5 works on the limits of the user’s imagination and Luffy definitely kept up with Kaido’s Thunder Bagua attacks, which is Massively Hypersonic at least.
Yujiro’s Speed can definitely break barriers. So much so that it can go above Mach 78, which is High Hypersonic at most.

Can Luffy beat Yujiro in terms of Stamina?
Luffy’s known for his long-standing battles and is pretty infamous for lasting more than he should have. 13 hours in a continuous battle with opponents tougher than him is no weak feat either.
Yujiro’s Stamina is considerably high, but we haven’t seen much of him throughout the series. We can safely say that it is Superman at maximum.
Gear 5 Luffy and Yujiro are equal in terms of Stamina.
Can Luffy beat Yujiro in terms of Destructive Capabilities?
Now, Gear 5 Luffy has immense destructive power which can be shown during his fight with Kaido’s Hybrid Dragon Form. After he bodied him, Luffy threw his body inside an underwater volcano which caused a massive eruption, showcasing the extent of his raw power.
Yujiro can be considered strong enough as well considering he single-handedly killed a rare bloodthirsty species of an African War Elephant in one strike, defeated the US military alone and once his “Demon Back” got unleashed, he would go one-on-one against his own son Baki for 2 hours straight!
But it’s still not enough to beat Luffy considering the feats the Latter has done.

Can Luffy beat Yujiro in terms of Endurance?
One thing Luffy is known for is the beatdowns that he has received from villains such as Kuma, Enel, Arlong, Lucci, Gecko Moria, Doflamingo, Big Mom and Kaido and gets back up, one way or another.
Yujiro Hanma can withstand many missiles and bullets and can be seen standing with ease! He even suffered deadly injuries from Demon-Back Baki and Full-Powered Musashi yet he stood ever tall.
Luffy and Yujiro are equal in terms of Endurance.
Can Luffy beat Yujiro in terms of IQ stronger?
Luffy is a simple-minded guy who relies on no plan and only on instinct to get through situations. This is proven when he met Kaido for the first time and got thrashed by him.
Yujiro Hanma, however, has mastery over stealth, and control over his Aura and can perceive Information about the person standing over him in just mere seconds!
Yujiro beats Gear 5 Luffy in terms of IQ.
Can Luffy beat Yujiro in terms of Battle IQ?
Luffy may have had a rough upbringing and training with his famous grandfather Monkey D. Garp, which influenced his fighting style as a whole but Yujiro can totally destroy a person before the fight has even begun via his Aura.
Gear 5 may enhance strength and other feats, but it does not enhance IQ at all.
Yujiro wrecks Gear 5 Luffy are equal in terms of Battle IQ.
X factor
Finally, we can look at the conclusion. Yujiro may be The World’s Strongest Creature with considerable feats in his hand but they are not enough to humble our boy Luffy at the end.
Luffy has the necessary Strength, Power as well as mastery of his abilities needed to defeat Yujiro Hanma, should the battle happen.
Gear 5 Luffy beats Yujiro by a wide margin.
