I hope everything is going well for you! In this post, we’ll look at who would win an all-out slugfest against One Piece characters!
Luffy, One of the Four Emperors of the Sea or Kuzan A.K.A Aokiji the retired Marine Admiral who became a member of the Blackbeard pirates.
If you’re caught up with the manga by now, you should know that Luffy has awakened his Devil Fruit power and has mastery over the advanced forms of all three variations of Haki.
The same can be said for Aokiji after his fated encounter with Sakazuki A.K.A Akainu. His Haki and Devil Fruit abilities are formidable as well.
Since 2008, I’ve been a fan of One Piece. And I’ve been thinking about it for quite some time. How would Gear 5 Luffy fare against the now-retired Admiral?

Gear 5 Luffy vs Aokiji
You’ve probably heard of Monkey D. Luffy by now. Introduced as a child who used to hang out with Shanks, One of the Four Emperors of the Sea, and ate the cryptic « Hito-Hito no Mi, Model: Nika » Devil Fruit unbeknownst to Shanks, who stole it from the World Government for undisclosed reasons.
He later went on to rescue Luffy’s life when a gang of thugs mocked him and he lost an arm to a Sea King who was going to devour Luffy, inspiring him to become King of the Pirates and discover the One Piece. I must say, this is a wonderful introduction.
And on the other corner, we have Kuzan, also known as Aokiji who, as explained before, was a Marine Admiral alongside Akainu and Kizaru. After his defeat by Akainu, his equal, at Punk Hazard, he retired from the Marines and joined the Blackbeard Pirates as their new member. What position he is in among the crew remains unknown but we’re hoping Oda would answer that someday!
But the question remains: Who would prove victorious among the two?

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Aokiji in terms of Strength?
If you remember in the Pre-Timeskip days, Aokiji gave a thrashing to not only Luffy but to the whole crew back when he was an Admiral and spared them since he owed a debt to Monkey D. Garp, Luffy’s Grandfather.
Now, things are VERY different in the Post-Timeskip era. The extent of Aokiji’s abilities hasn’t been shown yet but it is worth noting that he is considered one of the strongest characters in One Piece.

Luffy has shown considerable feats in the Wano Arc too with his Gear 5 abilities as he pummeled Kaido in his Hybrid Zoan form.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Aokiji in terms of Speed?
Now, it’s no strange fact that the Admirals are trained to be on their toes every time whenever a new danger arrives but Aokiji has a VERY fast speed in terms of movement and attacking. He can freeze objects before anyone can even think about it given that he saved Smoker from Doflamingo once.
Gear 5 Luffy works on the limits of imagination and given Luffy’s considerable experience with moving faster than usual, I’d say he would travel A LOT faster than his younger self.

In the Pre-Timeskip era, Luffy didn’t have much mastery over his Haki whereas Aokiji did as shown by his actions in the Marineford War.
But Luffy has mastered all three forms of Haki including the Advanced forms of it, giving him an edge over the former Marine Admiral.

Let’s not forget what happened at Punk Hazard. One half of the island turned into ice and the other into magma. That’s the extent of Aokiji’s powers.
Luffy’s feats are daunting, to say the least, but given that Aokiji was a former Marine Admiral, he has much to learn to reach his level.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Aokiji in terms of Endurance?
You all know how much damage Luffy has taken over the days. Especially during Wano from Kaido, from Big Mom, so it’s suffice to say that he has gone through some rough patchwork. He can last for as long as 13 hours and still gets back up with guns blazing!
The same can be said for Aokiji as he battled his colleague Akainu at Punk Hazard for 13 straight days when both were of equal strength and power.

Given that Aokiji is a former Marine Admiral, he always comes up with a plan or battle format to get his results.
Luffy, on the other hand, like the simpleton he is, would show no smarts in this field. This was shown when Luffy stormed straight up to fight against Kaido at the beginning which led to his capture.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Aokiji in terms of Battle IQ?
In battle, however, things may take a turn as Luffy’s fighting techniques depend on him completely adapting to the shifting course of the battle, which he is a master of.
We don’t know much about Aokiji in this aspect though, so we’ll just assume that he’s rigid and sticks to a plan till the end given his training as a Marine.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Aokiji in terms of Devil Fruit Powers?
Now, Aokiji’s Devil Fruit is the “Hie Hie no Mi” which is a Logia type Devil Fruit and given its abilities, it’s colder than ice, insanely powerful and capable of destroying not only islands but the sea as well!
As explained above, Luffy’s Devil Fruit is the “Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika” which is a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit very rarely found in the One Piece world.
Since the Devil Fruit hierarchy is as following:- Mythical Zoan> Ancient Zoan>Logia>Artifical Zoan>Paramecia. Luffy would beat Aokiji in terms of Devil Fruit powers.

And now, it’s time to see the outcomes. Given that Luffy has now beaten Kaido with Gear 5, he is a formidable enemy to face! And he would beat Aokiji in a battle, although he would have to put up a long fight against him!
