As it is customary in the anime community to compare and take note of the abilities of characters and use them for comparison against each other for the sake of fun and enjoyment, today, we will pit two of the most famous behemoths in the anime fandom against each other to see who will come out on top.
Today, we will answer the question : Can Luffy beat Saitama?
In the red corner, we have Monkey D. Luffy, the future Pirate King and leader of the Straw Hat Crew and in the blue corner, we have Saitama, the C-ranked Caped Baldy who is slowly making his way towards S-rank elites! Who will emerge victorious in this bloodbath?
As always, I’ll be your host for today’s article and with over 15 years of One Piece knowledge waiting to be shared, I can’t wait to tell you how this will all go!
Luffy vs Saitama
Probably one of the oddest of all confrontations is about to take place considering the personalities of both Luffy and Saitama. Both of them are laid-back when needed and wouldn’t prefer fighting random individuals at all. But in the instance of a looming threat coming up close, they’d get their guard up and won’t pull any punches to nullify the threat.
Luffy is at his prime right now, with Gear 5 unlocked after Wano Arc, he is one of the strongest characters in the One Piece universe at the present time with his feats being amongst the top-ranking pirates as well as Marines as well.
Saitama was originally a parody character made by ONE in its webcomic and he ALREADY is the strongest due to the rigorous training that he went through before becoming a member of the Hero Association.
Should the two meet, chances are that Saitama would be as blank-faced as Luffy in the beginning. Once circumstances are set for the two to collide, they won’t leave any stone unturned.
Can Luffy beat Saitama? The fight’s categories :
Here are the categories for the fight:
- Strength
- Speed

Can Luffy beat Saitama in terms of Strength?
I’ve said this many times now, Luffy in Gear 5 is a towering beast when it comes to Strength. Pummeling Kaido in all of his forms with Kong Gattling, Rhino Schneider, Kaminari and Bajarang Gun which are Multi-Continental at max.
Saitama, when serious, can display a Multi-Continental level of Strength showcased when Tatsumaki’s telekinesis was rendered ineffective against him. When properly serious against fighting a real threat, Saitama would display Multi-Solar System levels of Strength as he drew blood from an Awakened Garou: Mode Saitama and outpaced him.
Saitama pummels Luffy in terms of Strength.
Can Luffy beat Saitama in terms of Speed?
Luffy is fast, there is no doubt about that. This can be seen when he dodged Pacifista laser beams and kept up with Doflamingo in Gear 4. His Snakeman form in Gear 4 is his fastest form and he can blitz the likes of Katakuri with his Gear 4 Boundman form. And of course, with Gear 5, he blitzed Kaido in his Hybrid Form.
Saitama is a different breed. During his training, he allegedly managed to outrace his own reflection in a mirror and when serious, managed to blitz Awakened Garou to such an extent that he created a constellation around Io with his speed before he could react. He can also appear in multiple places at the same time, creating afterimages, showcasing that he is indeed Massively Faster than the Speed of Light.
Saitama blitzes Luffy in terms of Speed.
Can Luffy beat Saitama in terms of Power (Destructive Capabilities)?
If there is one thing that both Luffy and Saitama are known for is the amount of Destruction and Mayhem that the two cause during their fights.
In Luffy’s case, it’s pretty evident that he pummeled Kaido down towards the deep ends of the earth with his Gear 5 form and eventually caused an underwater volcanic eruption, going to show the monument of his Destructive Power. Not only that, his Bajarang Gun is basically the size of Onigashima Island and a fist of that size would surely make some more rubble. At least, at Multi-Continental level.
In Saitama’s case, his Serious series moveset can cause significant destruction in his wake with his Serious Punch, Serious Headbutt and Serious Tableflip laid Io, one of the moons of Jupiter to a state of mere debris. Goes to show that it is Multi-Solar System at best.
Saitama beats Luffy in terms of Power (Destructive Capabilities).
Can Luffy beat Saitama in terms of Endurance?
Both fighters are durable with the two of them displaying huge feats of resilience as their story progressed.
Remember the moment when Kuma made Zoro absorb his pain? That was just a fragment of what Luffy actually goes through with him taking punches from Jinbei, stabs from Doflamingo, blows from Awakened Katakuri as well as Queen and Kaido in all of his forms, especially with all forms of his Thunder Bagua.
Saitama is on a different level compared to Luffy though, with him enduring multiple strikes from Crabante which could fracture concrete and overcoming him at the end before he ever became a hero. Once he underwent his training, he took Tatsumaki’s psychic powers with barely any inconvenience AND kept up and tanked collision strikes from Garou’s Awakened Form which is Multi-Solar System Level at Max.
Saitama beats Luffy in terms of Endurance.
Can Luffy beat Saitama in terms of IQ?
Luffy, our very own simpleton captain with little to no awareness of the gravity of the situation at all and going on by his impulse rather than logic, can prove to be his downfall sooner or later.
Saitama is a simpleton as well but he is fairly average-minded and is much smarter than he usually seems to be. He is pretty laid-back though and once started to chase a Mosquito that was once bugging him.
Saitama beats Luffy in terms of IQ.
Can Luffy beat Saitama in terms of Battle IQ?
Luffy when in battle mode is a different person altogether with him depending on nothing but survival from a very young age and knows his way around situations where the odds are against him Luffy comes up with tactics on the spot to overwhelm his enemies.
Saitama is an ingenious fighter as well in his own right as he can mimic the moveset of his opponents in just a few moments and can completely outmanoeuvre them.
Saitama and Luffy are tied in terms of Battle IQ.
Conclusion
I think this one is a no-brainer but Saitama easily solos Luffy given the massive feat of strength that he has, should he prove to get serious.
Saitama solos Luffy with ease.
