Welcome back, Nakama! One Piece is known for anything, it’s for its memorable arcs despite its length and i guess you remember this shocking luffy’s defeat in the prison. In today’s article, we’ll answer the question : Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan ? being witness the rematch between Magellan, the vice-warden of Impel Down and Luffy in his Gear 5 form! As always, I’ll be your host for today and seeing that I’m a One Piece fan since 2008, I can’t wait to tell you all how this match will unfold!

Gear 5 Luffy Vs Magellan

The Impel Down arc is the part taking place right before anime history’s greatest arcs of all time, the Marineford arc. If you’ve forgotten, let me give you a quick refresher! The stakes are higher than ever and Luffy must enter the hellish prison to rescue his brother, Portgas D. Ace with the help of the Shichibukai, Boa Hancock, who for some reason is head over heels for him. We were introduced to Magellan, the prison’s notorious chief warden who has the Devil Fruit Doku Doku no Mi, responsible for the manipulation of different types of Poison by the user. As you would’ve guessed, it’s a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. He did give Luffy a tough time Pre-Timeskip but since he’s Luffy, he somehow managed to escape the prison. Should there be circumstances that Luffy would encounter Magellan again, there would be a definite rematch! But how would it turn out? Let’s find out!

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of Strength?

We don’t know how strong Magellan is to his full extent but it is noteworthy that he took out Emporio Ivankov, one of the commanders of the Revolutionary Army and incapacitated the Blackbeard Pirates and of course, gave Luffy a pretty good beating Pre-Timeskip. Gear 5 Luffy would be a very different story. You’ve heard the same reason over and over again. Hell, Luffy would even beat him in Gear 4 form easily. Gear 5 Luffy pummels Magellan in terms of Strength.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of Speed?

The only comparison we can have of Magellan is when he dodged Ivankov’s Death Wink, which is in itself another deadly move. That must mean that he is pretty fast. Luffy after the timeskip is a different story. And a different breed as well. If he blitzed Doflamingo, Magellan should be a snail to him. Gear 5 Luffy blitzes Magellan in terms of Speed.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of Haki?

I haven’t seen any source or panels where there have been instances of Magellan using Haki. Luffy’s the future Pirate King. It would make sense for him to have all 3 Haki in both advanced and base forms. In short, all 3 Haki > No Haki. Gear 5 Luffy overwhelms Magellan in terms of Haki.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of Power (Destructive Capabilities)?

Magellan did incapacitate Blackbeard Pirates and defeat Ivankov, but the scale of his destruction is yet to be seen. His Hydra (Poison Dragon) attack is pretty effective in a wider range of areas. Luffy would beat him in Gear 4. Simple. If he kept up with Ulti’s Mortar attacks with his Armament Haki, then Magellan would be a cakewalk for him. Gear 5 Luffy beats Magellan in terms of Power (Destructive Capabilities).

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of Endurance?

The maximum we’ve seen Magellan take damage is from Luffy in his Gear 3rd form, which is pretty deadly in itself. I’d say he’d have Mountain-Level endurance. Luffy can withstand Multi-Continental level blows. Beatings from Big Mom, Katakuri, Ulti, Kaido and others have made his body refined to take these blows. Luffy beats Magellan in terms of Endurance.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of IQ?

This is a no-brainer. Magellan would win in this since he is chief warden of Impel Down which requires a lot of planning, patience and mental endurance. You know Luffy. Not going to say it again. Magellan beats Luffy in terms of IQ.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of Battle IQ?

Post-Timeskip Luffy has more battle tactics up his sleeve and more improvisations than anyone else. If he can outsmart Kaido’s commanders mid-battle, then he can beat anyone. Luffy outsmarts Magellan in terms of Battle IQ.

Can Gear 5 Luffy beat Magellan in terms of Devil Fruit power?

Magellan’s Devil Fruit is Doku Doku no Mi which means Venom-Venom Fruit. That’s just manipulation of elements like most Paramecia Devil Fruits. (Not to be confused with Logia since they involve natural elements like fire, lightning etc.) Luffy’s Devil Fruit revelation shocked us all since it’s Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika, which is a Mythical Zoan Fruit and it has superiority over all Devil Fruits. You already know what time it is. Since it was obvious from the start, it’s safe to say that Luffy Post-Wano would completely wreck Magellan. I’d say he’d destroy the whole prison security and start another riot just for the sake of it! If we would’ve known Magellan’s full potential and limits, this would’ve turned out to be a different battle. Luffy stomps Magellan by a very high margin.
