Hi there, Nakama!
Today seems like a fine day! In this post, we’ll be looking at the fight of a lifetime between Gear 5 Luffy from One Piece and Lord Boros from One Punch Man!

I don’t think I need to explain who Luffy is again, and now that his Gear 5 powers have been unlocked, he’s one of the strongest and most well-known characters in the One Piece Universe.

And Lord Boros, who was humanity’s first serious threat in the One Punch Man universe and the first serious opponent to the main hero of that universe!

I’ve been an anime fan since 2008, and I’ve seen both One Piece and One Punch Man, where Luffy rose from a lowly pirate to the Emperor of the Sea, and Boros battered EVERY opponent he ever faced! But one question remains: who would win between the two?

Let’s find out!

Boros vs Gear 5 Luffy

Luffy’s story and ascent to notoriety are probably well-known by now, so I won’t go over it again. I’ll add that his most recent form, Gear 5, is deemed formidable enough to compete with the fiercest of the fierce.

I’m pretty sure you might’ve heard of Boros from the One Punch Man series. As explained above, he was Earth’s first Dragon-level threat in that universe and was set on enslaving different planets just for the sake of boredom.

That and he is looking for someone to defeat him. Sounds quite similar to someone we know. Someone who is a hero for fun.

So, what would a fight between these two beasts look like?

Categories for battle assessment

I can’t compare this battle under normal standards considering that Boros is an alien with extraordinary powers whereas Luffy is a Pirate and uses Haki/Devil Fruit.

So we’ll judge the battle with the criteria written below:

  • Strength
  • Speed
  • Stamina
  • Power (destructive capabilities)
  • Endurance
  • IQ
  • Battle IQ
  • X factors.

Then, let’s check it out.

Can Boros beat Luffy in terms of Strength?

Gear 5 represents the pinnacle of Luffy’s skills. To summarize, it’s his « Awakened » Form at best. That, along with his mastery of Advanced Observation, Armament, and Conqueror’s Haki, makes him a lethal force to be dealt with.

Boros is a self-proclaimed strongest fighter in the universe and that rings true to his name considering he can eliminate most heroes without much effort. His Meteorite form, which is rarely seen, is all of his raw strength unleashed.

Gear 5 Luffy and Boros are equal in terms of Strength.

Can Boros beat Luffy in terms of Speed?

Gear 5 now tends to rely on the user’s imagination, and Luffy easily kept up with Kaido’s Thunder Bagua strikes, which is at the very least Massively Hypersonic

Boros’s Speed is supersonic considering that he kicked Saitama, the main hero of One Punch Man, to the moon and reach him in 2-3 seconds. But that isn’t enough to keep up with the likes of Luffy.

Gear 5 Luffy blitzes over Boros in terms of Speed.

Can Boros beat Luffy in terms of Stamina?

Luffy is well-known for his long and painful battles and for persisting far longer than he should have. 13 hours of continuous combat with opponents stronger than him is also no small achievement.

Boros’s Stamina is Superhuman at most considering his battle with Saitama lasted for 5 minutes and 20 seconds in his Meteorite form and kept on fighting despite losing an arm but it is still not enough to keep up with Luffy’s timing.

Gear 5 Luffy beats Boros in terms of Stamina.

Can Boros beat Luffy in terms of Destructive Capabilities?

Now, Gear 5 Luffy possesses tremendous destructive potential, as seen by his battle with Kaido’s Hybrid Dragon Form. Luffy then flung his body inside an undersea volcano, causing a major explosion and demonstrating the extent of his sheer prowess.

Boros has the tremendous destructive capability as well, considering he destroyed part of his spaceship when fighting Saitama which was of considerable size and Multi-Continent level.

But how would the two titans, Luffy and Saitama fare against each other? We’ll have to find that out soon, one day or another.

Gear 5 Luffy and Boros are equal in terms of Power (Destructive Capabilities).

Can Boros beat Luffy in terms of Endurance?

Luffy is well-known for taking beatings from villains like Kuma, Enel, Arlong, Lucci, Gecko Moria, Doflamingo, Big Mom, and Kaido and would always step up to win! Now, that’s a lot of Endurance.

Boros can withstand his punches too and kept on fighting even after his arm was torn off. Despite being in pieces, he continued to fight Saitama.

Luffy and Boros are equal in terms of Endurance.

Can Boros beat Luffy in terms of IQ stronger?

You know how Luffy is, simple to the end and depends on emotions which traps him in situations, not in favorable conditions for him.

Boros has been conquering planets for far longer than he can remember and is a leader of the Dark Matter Thieves, so of course, he would be smart enough.

Boros beats Gear 5 Luffy in terms of IQ.

Can Boros beat Luffy in terms of Battle IQ?

Despite Luffy’s fighting style dependent on both his rough upbringing and training from his grandfather Monkey D. Garp, he still doesn’t possess the necessary knowledge and adaptability to overcome powerful enemies in a quick manner.

Boros, as stated above, is quite formidable in battle and can adapt well according to situations.

Gear 5 may enhance power, stamina and other feats, but it does not boost battle knowledge at all.

Boro completely destroys Gear 5 Luffy in terms of Battle IQ.

X factor

Finally, we can look at the conclusion. Despite Boros being a formidable opponent even in his Meteorite Form, Luffy would pummel him to the dust with Gear 5.

His speed and endurance are the only aspects of him that can put Boros to rest for good.

Gear 5 Luffy defeats Boros by a narrow margin.
